A Guide to Safer Cycling

As fuel prices rise and commuter congestion increases, more and more people are discovering the enjoyment of pedal power. This leaflet contains important information on cycling and the law as well as useful advice on how to reduce the risks you face as a vulnerable road user. There are sections on bicycle maintenance, carrying infants, family cycling and the use of helmets and high visibility clothing. 

Your Introduction to Driving in Europe

Driving on the mainland of Europe for business or pleasure is commonplace and straightforward for many UK drivers. The variations in rules and regulations between each of the European countries have been gradually reducing over recent years. This booklet contains some of the basic facts and requirements regarding driving in mainland Europe including journey and route planning, right-side driving, documentation requirements and breakdown advice.

Personal Safety on the Road

A guide to personal safety for drivers produced in consultation with The Suzy Lamplugh Trust. Personal Safety on the Road covers the most commonly feared crises such as road rage, breaking down in a vulnerable situation and coping after an accident, to more mundane, but potentially escalating situations such as the occupant of a car attempting to intimidate another driver.

Driver Assessment

People often feel the need to review their driving when they undergo a sudden change in their lifestyle or personal circumstances ... the birth of a new child can often make parents or grandparents look at their responsibilites behind the wheel in a different light. The 'Experienced Driver Assessment' is a low-cost way for people who have been driving for some time to find out whether their driving skills are up to scratch. The scheme has been specially designed by RoSPA and GEM. (This application form is only avaliable as a single item and cannot be provided in bulk supplies).

Reaction Timer Card

Do you have the reactions of Michael Schumacher or a sloth on its day off? The 'Reaction Timer Card' is a fun item which measures reaction time for a simple task. Teams of two players can use card to indicate how fast their partner's reaction is. It will make you stop and think about your driving skills and is designed to promote awareness of stopping distances and explains the '2 second rule' an ideal 'ice breaker' for driving instructors, clubs, pub quiz nights etc.
