Roadside rescue for you and your family
While some roadside rescue cover restricts the number of people they will move on from the site of the breakdown, GEM looks after you and
up to seven passengers. If you have our
Recovery EXTRA or
Recovery RECLAIM cover, not only will we take you home or onward to your destination, but we’ll refund one night’s overnight accommodation*** if that suits you better.
And, of course, we operate our roadside rescue 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
GEM roadside recovery looks after your vehicle
If we can't get you started at the roadside then we will take you and your vehicle home or to any one destination throughout the UK.
Recovery EXTRA gives you comprehensive cover and
Recovery RECLAIM gives you the same cover, but at a lower cost - in exchange, we ask you to pay for your recovery costs and expenses and then reclaim them from us in full.

* Please Note: Any vehicle means private car, car derived van or motorcycle. Motor caravans and motor homes will only be covered if they are under 3500kg GVW, do not exceed 7 metres (23 feet) in length and 2.25 metres in width (including any extra fitments). HGVs (Heavy Goods Vehicles), LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles) and minibuses are not acceptable.

***If the vehicle breaks down while it is more than 25 miles from your home, and it cannot be repaired at the roadside or at a garage during the same day, and is not recovered to your home or destination, we will refund the cost of alternative travel arrangements or necessary emergency overnight accommodation. The most we will refund is £200:
- for alternative road or rail travel or car hire; or
- for one night’s hotel accommodation for you and up to 7 passengers. (The amount we will refund will only be for the rooms. We will not pay any amount for meals or drinks.)
