GEM breakdown assist is comprehensive. All our packages cover cars and small vans, as well as motorbikes, motorhomes, motor caravans plus caravans and trailers attached at the time of a breakdown.*
You can call on us to help you for more than just breakdowns. We’ll get you out of trouble if you suffer an accident or vandalism - or even if you get ill.
Recovery EXTRA gives you comprehensive cover and
Recovery RECLAIM gives you the same cover, but at a lower cost - in exchange, we ask you to pay for your recovery costs and expenses and then reclaim them from us in full.
When you’re stuck, you can rely on our 24 hour recovery
GEM gets help to you at the roadside quickly. In the small number of cases where we cannot fix your vehicle, we will take you home or to any one UK destination of your choice.
With Recovery EXTRA and Recovery RECLAIM, in some cases we will also reimburse you onward travel or overnight accommodation***.
Whether you choose Recovery EXTRA or Recovery RECLAIM, you can be confident of getting the pick of UK breakdown insurance, each with 24 hour recovery.

* Please Note: Any vehicle means private car, car derived van or motorcycle.Motor caravans and motor homes will only be covered if they are under 3500kg GVW, do not exceed 7 metres (23 feet) in length and 2.25 metres in width (including any extra fitments). HGVs (Heavy Goods Vehicles), LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles) and minibuses are not acceptable.

***If the vehicle breaks down while it is more than 25 miles from your home, and it cannot be repaired at the roadside or at a garage during the same day, and is not recovered to your home or destination, we will refund the cost of alternative travel arrangements or necessary emergency overnight accommodation. The most we will refund is £200:
- for alternative road or rail travel or car hire; or
- for one night’s hotel accommodation for you and up to 7 passengers. (The amount we will refund will only be for the rooms. We will not pay any amount for meals or drinks.)
