Re-name the Highway Code

We were encouraged by the response to our request for motorists to suggest a new name for the Highway Code. From the suggestions made the judges felt that ‘Rules of the Highway’ was the most appropriate new name. A cheque for £100 has been sent to the winner Mr Ian Titler.

When travelling abroad most of us remember to check that our passports are still valid, but how many of us remember to check our driving licence photo-cards? A consumer poll conducted by not-for-profit Roadside Recovery Organisation, GEM Motoring Assist, which also has a Road Safety arm, reveals that nearly half of those surveyed were unaware that they needed to renew their driving licence photo-card within ten years!

The Government has announced a new scheme to encourage motorists to purchase a brand new car by offering a £2000 cash incentive to scrap the purchaser's existing vehicle. The scheme which will run from mid May 2009 to March 2010 ( Or sooner depending on whether the fixed allocated budget runs out ) has a number of conditions.
