Just wanted to thank you for the service I got after breaking down on Christmas Eve afternoon. Both firms, Ullswater garage and Egerton recovery were excellent by getting my family & me back to centre parcs for the holiday and then recovering us home. the phone & text services at GEM was great & the guys from the recovery and roadside were very friendly & helpful. I've been a memebr for a few years now & have never used the service before but it was there when I needed it & allowed us to have a great Christmas without having to worry about the car. I had to use your breakdown service for the first time this morning when my car failed to start on my drive. Your agent, Burrows Recovery arrived 20 minutes after my ringing your control centre and jump started my car. I must congratulate you on an excellent service and proves you are deserving of your best breakdown cover awards. I should have contacted you before now. Just over a week ago I had to call for assistance (my first time ever in 40 years of driving, so I've been lucky!). The car immobiliser failed and I was obviously stuck! I phoned GEM and anticipated a long wait. The gentleman I initially spoke to when I phoned was most pleasant and reassuring. Within 20 minutes the first van arrived. The mechanic was unable to solve the problem and told me that the car would have to be recovered. He stayed with me until the second vehicle arrived (again within 20 minutes and the car and myself were delivered safely home within the hour. I would like to thank all concerned for the efficiency and help given (and particularly the short time it took). I will be recommending you to friends and family. Again, thank you very much.

Last Sunday on leaving the Fairford Steam & Traction Engine Show as I met the hard road there was a fearful grating sound from behind, the trailer hitch foot scraping the road. My hydraulic suspension had gone - no hydraulic oil. Fishing an old GEM card out of the now defunct ash tray, I quickly called the help line and in seconds a very efficient lady had got it all sorted, telling me to expect help within the hour. And so it turned out almost to the minute a rescue truck from Greenmeadow Services drew up. The rescue driver was a super bloke who had the car loaded and the trailer hitched on behind in minutes and we were away. We dropped the car off at the garage, re-hitched the trailer and went to find a helper to unload. With help from the rescue driver this was done in no time. Back home just one hour overdue with many thanks to the driver, a blessed relief.

My only suggestion would be that you consider direct bank transfer as a (cheaper?) means of payment - but perhaps there are other valid reasons for adherence to old technology. I recently claimed a mis-fueling incident which was an entirely a stupid on my part. I received the claim cheque within 2 days of claiming. Many thanks for this prompt reposnse. Much appreciated. I shoudl also add that when I ued your breakdown line at the time of the incident I was most impressed with the way it was handled. My call was taken seriously and sympathetically and the incident has been resolved within 1.5hrs if it having happened. And all that on a Sunday morning! I can also fully recommend Accidental Fueling Solutions Ltd of Musselborough, Edinburgh who handled the incident.

I would just like to say how impressed I was not only at just the speedy time of attendance from the mechanic (25 mins) but his overall hepful attitude and his rapid repair of the broken throttle cable. He really was first class and I'm a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due but he certainly is an asset to his company.

I recently witnessed my car being damaged whilst parked in a hotel car park Luckily I had been reading an article about the Claims Management Service in the GEM magazine only a few days before so I decided to put them to the test. Integrity Claims Management handled the matter with complete professionalism, saving me time and effort and also the probable expense of the excess on my insurance policy and possible loss of no-claims discount in the future. May I thank you for the helpline you provide - you contacting an approved garage to come and assist was such a reassurance when my car died and I didn't know the names and numbers of any reputable firms. Great Western Garage was indeed with me within the time you advised in your text message, and they couldn't have been more helpful. Being unable to tow my car (no suitable towing eye fitted to front), they drove me to their workshop where one driver went off in a low loader to recover the car, and the other one then insistsed in taking me the last couple of miles home. This is only the second time the car has let me down in 20 years and therefore only the seond time I've actually needed your help during my approximate 30 years of membership, but it's great peace of mind to know you're just a phone call away when trouble strikes. I had borrowed a friend's car while mine was in for repair and whilst de-icing this the central locking somehow switched itself on and locked me out of the vehcile. I phoned GEM and received a very helpful and courteous response. In a very short space of time, a technician arrived from Westbourne Motors. He was cheerful, friendly and very reassuring. He opened the car with specialist equipment quickly and carefully and I was soon on my way. I cannot praise highly enough the service that I received. This was my first call on GEM's assistance since I joined a year ago and I am extremely pleased. Furthermore, my friend, who owns the rogue car, was also so impressed that she is going to join when her current breakdown insurance expires! Without doubt GEM is the best breakdown insurance I have ever had.

I am writing to thank you for your very swift response to the claim for the re-imbursement of recovery fees following my son's recent breakdown. Two days later I received a cheque. This is the second year we have been with GEM and this is the first occasion we have had to use your service. The recovery agent acting on your behalf repsonded to my son within an hour and promptly arranged his recovery to Hemel Hempstead. I chose GEM as the service actually appeared to be excellent value for money. However, one never actually knows how good a service is until you have to use it. I have been very impressed by the response given to my son and also by your very effective administration.

I had not expected to make two claims within a month or two of buying a replacement car. The frist a dead battery - can be put down to excessive cold and allied matters. The second, well! Never before in my driving life have I called upon any help to change a wheel. As you can imagine I am grateful for the services of GEM and the fair dealing of the car dealers who replaced faulty parts without a quibble - once the car got to their works 12 miles away.

Yesterday my daughter was stranded in Scotland with a burst tyre after hitting a large pothole in a very busy & fast road. She made a phone call to GEM and was most grateful for the courteous and kind help she was was given by the person taking her call. They were able to quickly pinpoint her location and arrange for a repair vehicle to attend in a very short time, and she is so thankful for the service provided by GEM. I've been a GEM member for a few years and both my wife and two daughters are members as well, although this is the first time any of us have had the need to call on your services. My daughter was so impressed and would like to thank all concerned and so would I - being a parent several hundred miles away from a daughter who's car is disabled on a busy road is quite worrying as you'll no doubt understand, so I too am most grateful for your friendly, professional and swift action on the day.

On Saturday 26th. June my wife and I were due to leave home, before the sparrow had made its present felt, for a flight from Stansted. The previous evening I carried out a check of our car, you know, oil, water, tyres etc. It was then I noticed the rear, offside tyre was looking a bit "tyred". On checking the pressure it became clear that we had a problem. Since my knee op. changing wheels has not been my favourite occupation. I am not in danger of being employed by a Formula One pit team! Approximately 15 minutes, or less, after making a call to your team, a recovery truck pitched up at the bottom of our drive and 15 more minutes and a cup of tea (actually it was two because I kicked one over!) the wheel was changed and the service paid for. I have to report that the help and courtesy I received when I made my call to you was most reassuring, and I certainly cannot fault the courtesy and efficiency of the engineer who attended. I must say that any of your members who have not joined your Recovery Service should reconsider, and contact you without delay. Your service is exemplary.

A note to thank you for your excellent service in relaying our 'dead' vehicle from Guildford, Surrey to Scotland. It proved to be a task which was efficiently and competently completed by your transport contractor in a most pleasant and caring manner. Right from the first call to the breakdown number, we were treated with consideration and provided with our preferred service in a timescale which met our requirements. As there was some understandable delay in getting to us, the proprietor of Automagic Motoring came out to us in his own car and brought along sandwiches and a hot drink; 'because I thought you had been waiting long enough'. Not the type of superb service we had received previously from the larger recovery providers! Again thank you for this service which we shall not hesitate to recommend to others.

I was so pleased with the service provided by G.E.M on my wife's birthday in April. A day in the Cotswolds was planned including a fine Lunch booked for one o'clock. First call was to Stratford upon Avon for some necessary shopping. At the ground level carpark I paid the ticket machine for one hours stay. Imagine my horror and dismay to find a rear tyre flat. At that time I thought the days arrangements would be completely blown apart. To my pleasure and surprise GEMs service was brilliant and a local garage rang me and arrived to change my wheel within the one hour parking time. While this was going on my wife completed her shopping and no time was lost. Well done GEM.
